Life for the Lubavitch swirl around 770 with hundreds gathering for morning prayer each morning in the main hall. As many flow out to various jobs, countless others fill every nook and cranny of the building studying, praying and often engaged in debate. Sometimes students nod off or simply find a space and lie down for a nap.

There is a constant buzz and motion that make the walls of this seemingly simple hive hum with energy.

Lubavitch of every age and walk of life gather together here, from infants to the elderly. However, only men are allowed on the main floor, women are permitted to observe and participate only from separate covered areas upstairs.

Lubavitch are distinct from other Chassidic sects like the Orthadox or the Satmar Chassidim because of their openness and effort to reach out to the broader world around them. Rebbe Menachem Schneerson was known to be a key motivator in encouraging and interfacing with secular Jews.
